Snow in Dublin – 1 March 2024

Friday started off with the surprise of waking up to snow, and not just a dusting of snow like we so often get in Dublin, but started off as proper flurries that stuck to the ground. Not able to resist, I grabbed my warm waterproof clothing and heading outside.

What I anticipated as a quick 30 minute walk turned into a 15km walk! I may have gotten slightly carried away and caught up in the moment since we don’t often get snow like this in Dublin.

I started walking around my neighbourhood and then started heading up towards the Dublin mountains, keen to see what the snow looked like on a higher altitude. The more I stayed out and the more I walked, the more snow fell and the longer it stuck on the ground.

Along the way I saw plenty of unfortunate cars stuck stuck in the snow, so people were taken off guard by the snow. There were also plenty of people of all ages out and about taking advantage of the change of weather and the beauty of the landscape. Majority of people I came across had big smiles on their faces as they were walking past.

Towards the end of my walk the snow had already started turning into sleet and the snow started turning to slush. The next day it was all gone so it was beautiful while it lasted!

Here is a Youtube short video I took of my walk:
