My main objective for staying in Kanab was to break-up the journey between Arizona and back to Colorado on my roadtrip, but for a small town there was a surprising amount of activities in the area. The biggest attraction is The Grand Canyon North Rim which is a 3 hour return trip, but while I was there I managed to squeeze in a hike on the K-Hill Trail which was close to my motel.
The K-Hill trail is a short but scenic 2.5 mile return trail along the cliffs which provides beautiful views of the surrounding area. There is a small parking area and trail information board available but not much else at the trail, but the Kanab Visitor’s Center is 0.4 miles away which has visitors amenities.
I only had a short amount of time in Kanab, but other interesting things to do in the area include:
- Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park
- Kanab Dinosaur Tracks
- Sand Caves
- Moqui Cave
- Bunting Trail – Trailhead
roadtrip progress:
18 hr 56 min (1,202 miles) – direct route travel
