Ballinastoe Wood Trail – Ireland

Ballinastoe Wood walking trail is 1 hour away from Dublin. The trail is easy to hike and takes you through the forest. Beautiful views of the Sugarloaf mountain and the sea in the distance are presented to you on the short trail.

On the day I walked this trail, the wind was fierce so I walked carefully. I was luckily provided with some shelter in the forest while walking along the boardwalk. In the middle of the forest on the trail, it’s amazing how the roar of the wind dies down to a distant hum.

If you are looking for information on the nearby Lough Tay – Guinness Lake, have a look at this article: https://shellsadventures.com/2019/02/16/lough-tay-guinness-lake-ireland/

  1. Hi Michelle! I’ve only done this trail once (Feb 2019) so my memory on this is a bit rusty what trails are available and which one I took 🙂
But I’m suspecting the one with the boardwalk is from the parking spots right to the left of the trail map on https://www.coillte.ie/site/ballinastoe/ I do remember going from one side of the road to the other and doing a few other of the trails around there from that point.
Hope you have a good walk.
